As youngs ,the future of Turkey, our aim is, within the social, cultural, economical and political
frame, to participate in politics that have been and will be formed regarding the problems and
agenda of Turkey, notably politics, and to take an active role in this process.
Policy making processes include many sides such as experts, academicians, media, government
agencies, political parties, think tanks, capital-based interest groups and cultural-based interest
We are aiming at having a comment on our future as a student-based organization.
Our Anatolian-based organization, whose aim is to treat all establishments equally during policy making processes, is expecting those foundations to show the same sensitivity. We are describing us as a non-partisan and civil organization, which is trying to carry on its works within the frame of analysis and trying to be neutral to all political fragmentations, and be pragmatist instead of ideologist. We prefer to approach all kinds of problems in civil cooperation and democracy-based, peaceful and pluralistic manners, thinking that it is permanent and brings long term benefits.
Our aim is, by paving the way for democratic constructions, to offer solutions to the issue addressing large masses which is the biggest problem that civil initiative has in Turkish Universities. The mission of International Relations Association is to build up and maintain cooperation and solidarity between youngs and publics in order to contribute to world peace within the frame of civil rights and democracy. International Relations Studies Association believes that Turkey has strong instruments that can play crucial roles in building up ’’peace and rest’’ in both its region and the world. TUIC also carries on some activities which can lead other people and institutions to that idea in order to make youngs and publics believe in new future construction.
The Balkans is one of the most important regions for Turkey. Turkey has deep and intensive historical and socio cultural relations and connections with the Balkan nations and countries. We can say that approximately 7 million Turkish citizens of the Balkan origin live in the present Turkey.
Turkey’s economic and political relations with the Balkan countries improved especially after the
socialism. All balances have shaken and the new states gained independence with the collapse of
Yugoslavia. In this process, the resulting instability has reached dangerous proportions in the
regional context. After the bloody times, relatively peace and stability was achieved to the region
at the end of international intervention. Although instable political environment, security
threats, insufficient infrastructure and problems in legal regulations pose a risk to the
investments, today Balkan countries have high investment potential
depending upon accelerating structural regulations within the European Union conditions.
After the socialism and started integration process into the European Union, the Balkans began
to reconstruct and reform their socioeconomic structures according the EU criteria. This
reconstruction and reformation process is still continuing under the EU. As a matter of that,
increase in amount of foreign direct investment and numbers of investors confirm that business
climate and trust are developed. At the state level, mutual visits have increased and many
bilateral and multilateral agreements have been signed between Turkey and the Balkan
countries. Unfortunately, these relations have not yet
reach to the existing potential of the region.
Turkish entrepreneurs have been closely monitoring and discovering the potential of the region. However, the Turkish entrepreneurs in Balkans will create mutual benefits in the short and long terms. On the other hand, the effect of THY (Turkish Airlines) on transportation which has daily flights and active Turkish Embassies, increase in productivity and the number of Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), Yunus Emre Cultural Center indicate the positive outcomes of Turkey’s relation between Balkan countries. Also such kind of organizations are playing important role in its development to invite private entrepreneurs to invest by creating larger scaled markets, incentive policies, preparing detailed investment reports on sectors and make foreign direct investment attractive.
Furthermore, Turkey is strengthened its political, economic and cultural relations with Balkans countries that have an important position. In upcoming period, Turkey is targeting to improve and develop its relations more by using not only “soft power” instruments but also investments, strengthening the economic structure, and contributing stability and security complementary with EU standards.
Within the context of all these, also all challenges such political, economic, social and environmental etc. which are threaten stability and peace in the region will be identified so as to understand the situation and enhance to cooperate among the countries in the Summit. So, Balkan’s economic potential and the cooperation opportunities between Turkey and Balkans will be discussed and analyzed with the participation of representatives of Balkan Countries Think- Tanks, academics, diplomats, experts, investors etc. by 1st Turkey-Balkan Economy Summit with the theme of “Growing Relations of Balkans and Turkey: An Economic Perspective, Economic Growth and Development Patterns”.
